Coming Soon: The Battleships*

Near Red Fleet State Park

Just north of Vernal, tucked between sandstone ridgelines and dinosaur tracks, you'll find the Battleships—a dramatic formation of fin-like cliffs that rise like a fleet of stone across the desert landscape. Named for their long, narrow shape and striking profile, these sandstone walls offer fantastic crack climbing, with everything from beginner-friendly warmups to technical vertical challenges. Some sport routes, but mostly trad with top anchors. The rock is solid, the views are sweeping, and the setting is reminiscent of the iconic Indian Creek!

*Dyno Outfitters will be guiding climbing trips to the Battleships once BLM permitting is complete.

Flag Crag

At Remember the Maine Park

Developed in 2024 by Dinoland Adventure Project (DAP), the Flag Crag is Vernal’s newest climbing area! With a short approach, great sun exposure, and a growing collection of beginner-to-intermediate routes, it’s quickly becoming a go-to spot for locals and visiting climbers alike. Easy access and scenic views (with a dash of local history) make it a perfect venue for guided climbs, intro sessions, and low-stress afternoon sends.
